I don't know why, but I just love looking at stuff on the ground. As a kid, I used to find money and coins all of the time. There's a lot going on down there, interesting colors, shapes and compositions. I found myself stopping to take pictures manhole covers, then utility covers, and then construction markings. I travel a lot for work, and found even more of these amazing hunks of art, while out and about. After a while, I realized I had a couple of hundred photos.

It was evident that I wasn't just taking a picture of the manhole cover, but instead, amazing compositions of color, textures, cigarette butts, cracks, spray paint, leaves, dirt. There were so many colors and textures, lines and  patterns. Incredible images that were created entirely by accident!  Join me in discovering the most interesting blend of ignored and under-appreciated design, utility and history right underneath your feet.

In the photo, my son caught me taking a shot while on a road trip in Oregon recently.
